Kellner Trail Report

Ready to ride!
I went out for a quick ride last night since my youngest has been begging me for a ride ever since the first snow. The trails were groomed right after New Year’s and judging by the lack of tracks have seen little traffic since.
I rode all the trails around Kellner south of the lake and they were smooth. They definitely need more snow. Some areas were a little thin, especially the corners, but the groomers did an excellent job repairing the trail after last weekend’s heat wave.
Generally what I saw were trails that are i desperate need of a few inches of snow. Thankfully the extreme cold we have had and are forecast to have will keep what we have around. Trails are packed hard with little loose snow on top. Expect to see a few bare and snirty spots in corners and the usual spots.
On average I would say they are poor to fair. If you want to enjoy a fish fry ride at one of our sponsors like the Chat-R-Box or Anchor Bay, I would say go for it. If you are from out of town I would suggest you check back when we get some snow.
I took some pictures this morning on the way to work. The pictures were taken on the north side of our trail system. Click on the image to enlarge them.

I attended the Adams County Snowmobile Association meeting last night. It was brought up that there have been complaints of riders not staying on the trails, especially when crossing farm fields. (Probably looking for fresh snow to ride on) What those riders do not realize is that there are spring crops in those fields and that riding on them is destroying those crops and the farmers source of income. Our landowners are kind enough to let us use their land so that we can enjoy our sport and we MUST respect that partnership. If you continue to ride off trail, you might as well take all of that money you have invested in your snowmobile and park it in the garage because there will be no where to ride. PLEASE stay on the trail and report any violations you see. As a respectful rider you can help educate others as to the seriousness of this issue. Spread the word and thank you for following the rules. Keep it between the orange blazers. Thanks– Gary Gevers
